THE LAST CHANCE TO SEE STOURBRIDGE FC'S WAR MEMORIAL GROUND IN ITS CURRENT STATE!
Stourbridge Football Club are one of the more well-known non-league football clubs in the UK. They are based 15 miles away from Birmingham, in the heart of the Black Country.

The Glassboys currently sit mid-table in the Southern Premier League Central Division. (step 3)
On Easter Monday (April 21st) they play their last home game of the season against Bromsgrove Sporting, but this home game isn't any ordinary home game as they have been hit with turmoil in relation to their iconic ground.

Stourbridge have been told their existing floodlights and stands must be taken down following the final home fixture of the season.
Surveyors have come to the conclusion that floodlights and stands are situated too close to the banks which surround the War Memorial Ground and are in danger of subsidence, meaning they must be removed.
They have already suffered partial closures this season in certain areas.

It is absolutely heart breaking for the club to go through this who are set to celebrate their 150th year next year after being founded in 1876. I mean, talk about timing!
They have been at the War Memorial Ground since 1888!

Non-league football clubs run on a tight budget year on year as it is without this curve ball, albeit one that involves safety.
The War Memorial Athletic ground will simply be a field in a matter of weeks once everything is removed.

Plans will be drawn up as to what happens next season. They share the land with the Cricket Club, and with them having a summer schedule, this could prove tricky to allow the football club time to get things ready for next season.
Part of Stourbridge Football Club's statement is below.
“There is no doubt that whatever option is progressed, it is going to be extremely costly and we are considering all possible funding streams, including our fan base and the community. We will detail this further over the coming weeks, but this will be a stressful period for the football club and will take some time to deliver. We are, however, optimistic that a solution can be achieved if everyone is prepared to work together."

So, if you are at a loose end on Easter Monday, local or simply want a new ground to tick off, why not lend your support to Stourbridge?
And if you have never visited the War Memorial Athletic ground, it is certainly worth a visit. Even if a few who read this, make the trip, we have done our bit!
At Easter Monday's match, which is also a local derby, there will be live music post-match and a Cider & Sausage Festival along with the end-of-the-season presentations.
We want to wish Stourbridge all the best with finding a solution and securing their future in what is set to be a turbulent summer off the pitch.
We have added some photos to this article to show what a wonderful old, unique ground it is.
